1st Trimester Update

I wanted to share a recap of my first trimester in case anyone had any questions! I am officially in my second trimester (wow! that went by fast!). Please always remember that every single person is different, so my experience can be totally different from yours! So let’s get into it:

Week by week symptoms:

Found out at weeks 5-7: ultra sore boobs, fatigue and slight cramping (nothing to be concerned with), a little constipation, irritable

Weeks 7-13: food aversions, heightened sense of smell, fatigue, round ligament pain, insomnia some nights, had to eat immediately after waking up or felt nauseous, very dry and sensitive skin, little bit of acne, indigestion

I’m in my 2nd trimester now, week 14 and I am feeling pretty good. Definitely not as tired, but not out of the food aversions yet :P

I would say I feel like I got lucky in the symptom department, while food aversions are freakin HELL, I would rather have that than morning sickness every day. I’ll get more into the food aversions below.

Food aversions/what I ate:

Man, this is hard. As you know, 1st trimester is survival mode no matter what you’re symptoms are. It’s the only time in life it is acceptable to live off of Trolli’s (IYKYK). I could not and can not eat meat still, only bacon and beef (only on certain days), I can smell an onion from a mile away and let me tell ya, they make me want to BARF. Any hot veggies make me sick.

I have been living on frozen waffles, bread, grilled cheese, French fries every day, cheese quesadilla, Velveeta Mac n Cheese and saltines. For protein, I’ve been drinking protein shakes, Chomps beef sticks (surprisingly can eat these), Greek Yogurt, eggs. Sometimes I make myself eat stuff because I know I need certain nutrients to stay healthy but the majority of my diet is not good. My doctor said first trimester is basically fight or flight mode and you basically have to feed yourself whatever to survive, and now I know what he means! LOL

When we told people:

To be honest, we told a very small handful of people between 5-9 weeks and then after we had our first baby appointment, we started telling the rest of our family and friends from 9-12 weeks before we announced! It's kinda a crazy time, because you WANT to tell people and shout it from the rooftops but you also want to wait until that first appointment which feels like forever away!

1st Trimester Blood Work:

We decided to do genetic testing and gender during my 10 week blood work appointment. Obviously we would love that baby no matter what, but I would stress the entire pregnancy if I didn’t know if there was anything wrong with the baby. Thank goodness, our baby is perfectly healthy and we cannot wait to share the gender with you all.

Products I am loving:

I will say, I have gained about 5-6 lbs in my first trimester and that personally excites me! I am not able to wear any of my pants or shorts, unfortunately. I have been living in those shorts above and Lululemon align biker shorts, and dresses! I need to buy myself some jeans that are just a tad bigger:)

Can’t wait to update you guys in the next few weeks after my 2nd trimester! Excited to see how this goes!

Oh and a few things I’m ecstatic for: announce the gender, anatomy scan to see baby all grown up lol, and just grow continue growing a healthy baby!
