May Book Round Up
Last month was SO busy with my birthday party, friends being in town, but I impressed myself with reading and finishing up these 5 books! They were SO good. I’m pretty sure I rated them all 4.5 to 5 stars. They all kept my attention REALLY well.
Layla by Colleen Hoover: WOW. CoHo did it again! I don't know why I waited so long to read this book, I think because there were SO many mixed reviews, but I'm so glad I finally picked it up! IT WAS SO GOOD. A lot of people don't love it because it's paranormal-ish with ghosts and the other world, but I thoroughly enjoyed it and the story line was VERY good. I rated it a 5 out of 5!
One Italian Summer by Rebecca Serle: I gave this a 4.5! It started out really sad (hence the .5 deduction because I wasn't expecting that and not in the mood) and then it got really good! I absolutely loved this book because it takes you through Italy in the summer and I swear it was the best description because I felt like I was there in Positano and the other little islands with them. I definitely think this is a great summer read if you are looking to take something to the pool or the beach to read for the weekend!
The Cheat Sheet by Sarah Adams: Also gave this a 4.5! It was the epitome of a cute rom-com! If you are looking for a quick friends to lovers trope read, this is it. I love the way they did this. I deducted half a point because I feel like it took them WAY to long to realize and admit they liked each other, but they had fun in the process. It definitely didn't take long to get into either! Again, another fun read to take to the pool or beach! :)
Too Late by Colleen Hoover: Okay, this one is dark! Another CoHo book I never picked up because of the mixed reviews and again, so glad I did. It was SO different from her other ones. I really don't want to give away any of the story but it's about toxicity, drugs, abusive relationships, etc. This book had me on the edge of my seat until the very last chapter. I freakin bit my nail off in anxiousness, yall. You just have to read it for yourself. It's a raw and real story that could happen and has happened to people, but it's a good one as well. I rated this 4.5 stars!
Say You Swear by Meagan Brandy: Read this after Too Late, because I needed a pick-me-up after the darker story themed and I'm so glad I did. It's a love triangle that doesn't end until the very end. Y'all this twist that happened 3/4 through the book, I was NOT expecting and I was kinda pissed about it - I'm not gonna lie. Everything that happened after the twist, I was annoyed with until the VERY end. I did rate this one a 4 out of 5 stars only because it was SUPER long and I think it could've been condensed at least 100 pages less! A lot of the middle was just fru fru and that could've been taken out! Other than that, loved this book and Noah has my heart <3
