25 Things I've Learned by 25

CHEERS everyone! Today is my birthday!!!! My goodness, I can't believe I am quarter of a century. Time literally flies by in the blink of an eye. I remember 4 years ago when I was celebrating my 21st birthday or 7 years ago, when I turned 18.It's crazy to think that when I was in my teens, I thought 25 was so far away and so old. By no means am I old, and I really don't even consider myself an adult.. maybe like a baby adult if you want to categorize it. When you think back to those years, you think about everything you wanted to accomplish by 25, some I have and some I haven't. I wanted to be out of college (check!), married (does engaged count?!), working my dream job and I wanted my first kid at 24.....my, how things change... now I'm thinking 28/29 for my first kid. As I sit and think about all the great years that are behind me, I wanted to share 25 things I've personally learned by the age of 25.

  • The number one thing I have learned is that if you want to have it all, you gotta work hard for it.
    • I'm a firm believer in this, and don't think things should just be handed out to people. Yes, I have nice things but I have had a job since I was 18 years old!
  • Budget, budget, budget.
    • I used to be really good about saving money (lots & lots), I still have a good savings, but blogging has killed me in that department. I'm finally starting to make money with it so I am hoping to build my savings back up. It is very important that you learn how to budget when you're young so you don't run into any problems when you're older.
  • Cherish those real friendships!
    • There's nothing better than waking up everyday knowing you have those lifelong friends who are going to be there for you through everything!
  • Don't apologize for everything.
  • Sleep is such a precious gift!!!
    • I can't tell you how much I love coming home and just laying in bed/sleeping.
  • Home date nights are the bomb!
    • Lane and I used to love going out on the town to date it up or out with friends, but we have turned into such homebody's and we love it!!! Nothing beats snuggling on the couch with some pizza watching The Office.
  • Learn to cook!
    • I promise you, you will save so much money in the long run!!
  • Take the risk!
    • I just recently took a job in St. Augustine... never in a million years did I think I would drive an hour to work there. I took the chance and I absolutely love it.
  • It's totally okay if you're not friends with everyone.
    • Not everyone is going to like you and that's okay. You don't have to be in every clique. Find your niche and you'll find your forever friends.
  • Learn to not care what others think.
    • When I first started blogging, I cared about what people think. I got upset when people didn't read my blog or I didn't get enough likes. Now after doing it for a while, I do it for me. I enjoy writing, taking pictures, shopping and showing people what I find via Insta. It's all starting to come together and I couldn't be happier.
  • Learn to laugh at yourself.
    • I used to take myself so seriously and would hate to mess up in front of people, but in the long run WHO CARES!!!
  • Travel keeps me sane!
    • My absolute favorite thing to do with my sidekick is explore new places. I'm sad we don't get to do it more often but when we are able to travel, we make the most of it. You learn from these experiences and grow more as a couple.
  • Take care of yourself.
    • By 25, you should be taking more care of your body. Watch your health, skin, and body. No more eating a big mac and large fry and keeping the metabolism you had 7 years ago... sad, but true.
  • You don't HAVE to go to the party...
    • Lane and I are getting to that point to where it's 9 o'clock and everyone is out and were like do we really want to go? Hahahah! We're that couple and it's totally okay sometimes.
  • Trust your instincts.
    • If something doesn't feel right, it probably isn't.
  • When you find your true love, don't let go.
    • I'm about to get cheesy so bear with me for a sec... haha! I am so happy I found my other half so young. Some people may think that it's crazy to be with one person all your life, but when you're in an exciting relationship, that should be enough <3
  • Don't take things too seriously.
    • I used to take everything everyone said to heart and I usually ended up holding grudges or being awkward. I stopped that a while ago and life has been great since then!
  • It's totally okay if your dreams change!
  • Sleeping in is overrated.
    • I literally cannot wake up past 8:30 anymore, but you know I am much more productive during the day when I wake up early.
  • Your mom will become your best friend.
  • I read this one online but "Comparison is the thief of joy" I absolutely love this.
    • I can't tell you how unhappy you will be if you are always comparing yourself to others. Everyone needs to remember God made every single person different.. so there's no need to compare.
  • Not everything needs to be put on Social Media.
    • I cannot stress this enough. Facebook does not need to be your personal diary.
  • You will most likely be poor in your 20s.
  • Invest in a grown up wardrobe.
    • I promise you, it will come in handy.
  • Friendship is a two-way street.

Well, there you have it! 25 things I have learned by 25 years old. Some I am still working on... and that's totally okay. Well, I will leave you all alone... I'm going to go celebrate my birthday! Have a great day!
