How To: Clean Your Make-Up Brushes
One of the most important questions to those who apply make-up everyday is, "How often do you clean your brushes?" Is it once a week? A month? Almost never? The answer should be once a week. There are many products you can use to clean your brushes, and most of them you can find sitting around your house.Examples:
- Johnson's Baby Shampoo
- Vinegar
- Olive Oil
- Coconut Oil
- Shampoo
- Dish Soap
- Gentle Face Wash (Cetaphil, Philosophy, etc.)
Some brands like BeautyBlender have their own make-up brush cleaner you can purchase (See here!)Today was the day I needed to clean my brushes, especially since I am going on a Bachelorette Party this weekend and will be doing a few of the girls make-up. I am definitely one of those who clean their brushes about once a month because honestly it slips my mind sometimes and that's okay, let's just not make it a habit. ;-)I used { Dawn Dish Soap } because I was out of everything else and it needed to be done. What you need:
- Make-up Brushes
- Choice of Cleaner
- Plate or a small bowl
- Drying Mat or Towel
What you do:
- Put a dollop of cleaner on the small plate or bowl (may need to re-apply)
- Take your brush and mix it with the soap
- Rinse all the soap out in the sink
- Lay brushes flat on a drying mat/towel, or upside down so all water drips out of bristles
- Let air dry
